世界上的大编组站

世界上最大的编组站，是位于美国内布拉斯加州，北普拉特市，联合太平洋铁路的贝利调车场。

Bailey Yard is the world’s largest railroad classification yard. Owned and operated by the Union Pacific Railroad, Bailey Yard is located in North Platte, Nebraska. The yard is named after former Union Pacific President Ed H. Bailey.


Bailey Yard lit at night.The gigantic Bailey Yard covers a total expanse of 2,850 acres (12 km²) and is over 8 miles (13 km) in length and 2 miles wide (3.2 km). The yard is made up of some 315 miles (507 km) of track, including 18 receiving and 16 departure tracks.

Bailey Yard handles over 10,000 railroad cars every day. Approximately 3,000 cars are sorted daily in the yard’s two humps. Because of the enormous amount of products that pass through Bailey Yard, Union Pacific describes the yard as an “economic barometer of America.”

Besides being home to two humps, the yard also includes a locomotive fueling and servicing center that handles more than 8,500 locomotives per month, a locomotive repair shop that can repair 750 locomotives monthly, and a car repair facility that handles nearly 50 cars daily.

Union Pacific employs more than 2,600 people in North Platte, most of whom are responsible for the day-to-day operations of Bailey Yard.

Bailey Yard has expanded significantly since the first tracks were laid in 1948. In 1995, as a result of its massive size, the yard was recognized in the Guinness Book of Records. It was recently featured on the "Freight Trains" episode of Modern Marvels on The History Channel. It was also featured in the book Uncommon Carriers by John McPhee (2006).

说真的，看得不是很明白，这个编组站为什么有上下行之分，还是有两个站区，楼主给点解释

楼主是新手上路级别，也不明白。单从介绍上看，其硬件设施规模，要比郑州北站大。占地面积12 km²，站长13 km，宽3.2 km，总轨道长507 km。我是在wiki上查编组站这个词条时，看到说它是世界最大编组站的，至于几级几场，就不知道美国和我国习惯是不是一样了。在YouTube上，找到几个关于UP Bailey Yard的视频，但没看到空中的俯视图。还望达人来解决了。

Der Bahnhof Maschen Rangierbahnhof (kurz Maschen Rbf oder AM nach dem bahnamtlichen Betriebsstellenverzeichnis) bei Maschen südlich von Hamburg an der Bahnstrecke Hannover–Hamburg, ist der größte Rangierbahnhof Europas und wird weltweit nur noch vom Bailey Yard bei North Platte, einer Kleinstadt im US-Bundesstaat Nebraska, übertroffen.
Nach siebenjähriger Bauzeit und langen Planungsabwägungen erfolgte am 7. Juli 1977 die Inbetriebnahme des Rangierbahnhofes Maschen. Er wurde mit der damals modernsten verfügbaren Rangiertechnik ausgerüstet. Dazu gehören über 300 Balkengleisbremsen, mehr als 100 Beidrückanlagen und die rechnergesteuerte Ablauftechnik mit funkferngesteuerten Abdrücklokomotiven und einer Leistungsfähigkeit von 180 Wagen pro Stunde je Ablaufberg.

这几张卫星图，我都是在2.04km的视点高度垂直向下看的，但是我感觉，Google Earth的高度好像也有问题，不知道它怎么处理海拔，这个视点高度是怎么计算出来的，平移时会不会有问题。其实你去看看放大到一节车厢的时候，就应该有个对照了。同样的高度，似乎能容纳的编组场轨道数有些差别，不知道是现实差别还是观测高度不同造成的。
美国的那个好像是编组场每根的长度并不是很长，而到发场超长。但资料上说Bailey Yard编组场的根数是50+64，而汉堡的Maschen是48+64，就差两根。

规模世界第一吧，这是因为美国列车都超级长。

效率？在中国进不了前5。
郑州北每天办理24000（不是最高峰时），双峰解体更是远远不止3000辆。
