Electric locomotive 152 for German Rail (DB AG)
In 1995, German Rail (DB AG) awarded a supply
contract for 195 class 152 freight locomotives to
Siemens Krauss-Maffei Lokomotiven GmbH and
Transportation Systems. This is the first
model of the second-generation EuroSprinter® family.
The units are being delivered to DB AG over
a period between 1997 and 2001 and are to replace
the six-axle class 150 locomotives.
When awarding the contract, German Rail placed great value on the guarantee of high
reliability and availability with low life-cycle costs.
Owing to its future-oriented design and modular construction, the class 152 can be
converted into a multi-system locomotive.
