2001年10月18日，大连机车车辆厂为马来西亚国油公司生产的2台CKD8C型内燃机车交验落成。这是该厂首次以自由竞标方式中标的出口机车，构造速度每小时100公里，装用12V240ZJD型电子喷射柴油机，装车功率为1840千瓦。针对马来西亚地处热带，温度高、湿度大，机车将用于油田运输等问题，对机车的散热、防潮和火灾预警等进行了特殊设计。
