700系新干线

    700系新干线名为铁路之星Rail Star

    这是日本最新也是最先进的一款新干线。它于1997年开始制造，但正式投入运行是在1999年的三月11日。到四月为止，700型新干线已经制造了176辆，C sets模式每组车有16节车厢，E sets模式有8节车厢。E系列归属于JR西日本铁道，最高运营时速为285公里，C系列又分C1,C2两种，都归属于JR东海公司（会社），在山阳新干线上的最高时速为285公里，在东海道新干线上为270公里。在所有的运营车型中，500系列是最快的，而700系列相对于500，虽然稍慢，但其内部要宽敞舒适，是一款“豪华”车。16节车厢的700型一列车全长约400米，共载1323名乘客。700型的车体是用铝合金压制成的中空外壳，内部填充的是吸音，防震的复合材料。经过了两年的试运行，700型的样车总里程已超过40万公里，在极大程度上保证了新车的安全性。

    由于采用了中空铝型材压制的车体，700系列新干线仅重708吨。这种车型是12动4拖的编组方式，使用13200千瓦的功率。 它的研制过程是在吸收由300系列新干线发展而来的300X试验车的基础上，结合这几年来500系列新干线的测试于运行数据而制造出来的。在构造上，700系列车的车厢之间的节气闸相连接，提供了很好的制动效果。另外，车体的两层铝合金材料之间夹复合材料而成，给车内提供了一个恒温的环境。
