| Description | : | UNOFFICIAL Rail Simulator Keyboard Patch
By Matt Peddlesden, UKTrainSim - matt@uktrainsim.com
THESE FILES ARE IN NO WAY ENDORSED, RECOMMENDED FOR USE OR SUPPLIED BY ELECTRONIC ARTS, RAIL SIMULATOR DEVELOPMENTS OR KUJU. THEIR USE IS ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK AND THE AUTHOR ACCEPTS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR.
These files are for the new Rail Simulator product.
They are NOT for Microsoft Train Simulator OR for Trainz.
Ok, now that stuff is over with...
This small tweak swaps the A and D keys around so that they match the default Microsoft Train Simulator keys, since every other key in the sim matches MSTS it seems odd they swapped these over. Apparently it was done because MSTS got it wrong - A for Accelerate, etc.
For those that would like to have it back the way MSTS works, follow these steps:
1. Go to your rail simulator install folder, i'm going to assume you've got it in the default location.
C:Program FilesRail Simulator
2. Now go to the following sub folder:
AssetsKujuRailSimulatorCoreInputMappers
Inside here you should find a number of .bin files such as "Default_Expert.bin" and "Drive Mode.bin"
3. Make a copy of these files somewhere and keep them safe, it'll be easier than re-installing the whole thing later.
4. Unzip the files from this zip over the top, making sure that they all replace the existing files.
5. Run Rail Simulator and now get used to the fact that's it back working the way MSTS does!
CAUTION: While this has had some testing on a small number of machines, installing this may cause problems for YOU. If you are experiencing any issues after installing this unofficial tweak then you should remove it and/or re-install Rail Simulator BEFORE contacting EA or Rail Simulator Developments for support.
CAUTION: Once you have installed this, you may have difficulties installing any official upgrade patches. If they will not work for you then remove this tweak OR re-install Rail Simulator BEFORE contacting EA or Rail Simulator Developments for support.
