300系新干线

    300系列有两种车型，其一是测试车，产量很少；另一种是大量生产的商业车。这种车从外形上，给人一种现代的感觉，比前面几代好许多。这种车设计成功于1992年，生产年限从1989年到1998年，总共生产了1120辆，合70组车组。300系列是16辆编组，典型的颜色是珍珠白的车底和蓝色的条纹。300系列新干线的最高时速为270公里。这种车型是在100型的基础上设计而成，它的重心比100系列更低，运行起来噪音更低，速度快的时候乘客会觉得更稳定。值得一提的是300系列的去噪音系统被最新的700系列采用，它的技术已被业界承认。

    经过这么些年的发展，300系列新干线已经成了日本东海铁道的主力车辆，成为了行走于日本新干线上的主要车辆。最新的700系列新干线车辆有很多技术就是继承300系列的。该车功率12000千瓦，车厢是日本新干线中首先采用铝合金型材压制的。车的重量710吨，比钢材制造出的0系列轻了260吨。每一列车定员1323人，普通运营车辆载客1123人。

300系9000番台(J1編成)乃300系的先行量產車,為首輛出廠的300系,該車於07年3月28日退役,該車並於4月解體,該車的外形與量產車也有區別,特別是車頭兩側多了凸出的部分
